About the Editor and Translator:

    Harold K. Shefski is currently Associate Professor of Russian at California State University (Long Beach). He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Davis, and has published a number of articles on Leo Tolstoy and contributed essays on nineteenth-century and twentieth-century Russian literature to periodicals in the United States and abroad.
